Teaching

You can find me teaching in many settings across the country and in other countries. During my 20 year tenure at the New York State Summer Writers Institute in Saratoga Springs, NY, I was student, writer-in-residence, and associate director, student advocate, and novel mentor. I live in San Diego where I teach creative writing classes, host a manuscript workshop with pie, and mentor Science and Engineering students on personal essays. Outside the classroom setting, I co-facilitate a retreat in France where we learn to live the writing life, and a Manuscript Workshops in my living room with guest of honor, David Ulin, and a fall colors retreat in Aspendell, CA.
